Chaga Tea Recipe
Ingredients: 1/4 cup chaga chunks, 8 cups water
- Simmer chaga chunks with water in covered pot for about 2 hours. Try to not let boil (just simmer) – boiling the chaga reduces some of its medicinal qualities.
- Strain chaga chunks out and enjoy!
The tea should be very dark. You can enjoy plain, with brown sugar, honey or maple syrup, hot, cold, with lemon, etc. I usually just drink mine plain. Keep your tea in fridge once brewed and warm it up if you want to drink it warm. Then take your chaga chunks and freeze them – you can reuse them at least 2 more times (3 total) or until tea is not becoming dark. You may need to simmer longer in subsequent brews, but I have made up to 5 brews with the same chaga successfully.
Chaga Chai Recipe
Ingredients: 1/4 up chaga chunks 8 cups water 1 tspn ground cinnamon 1 1/2 tspn ground ginger 10 cloves 1 tspn cardamom 1/8 tspn black peppercorns
Follow directions above for basic chaga tea. Once chaga chunks have been removed from tea, add all spices for 10 minutes of additional simmering. Strain spices, sweeten to taste (traditionally with brown sugar, but honey or maple syrup will do). Add cream, milk, almond milk, etc. to make creamy.
